A Guide to Understanding Match Odds at Telegram88
Whether you're a new or experienced player, understanding how odds work is the key to a smarter betting strategy.
Many Malaysian players who are new to Sports Betting often wonder – what exactly do match odds and how it affects their winnings? At Telegram88, we believe every player deserves a full understanding of how the odds system works before placing any bet.
Simply put, odds reflect the probability of a certain outcome and how much you stand to win relative to your stake. For example, if the odds for Johor Darul Ta'zim to win are 1.72, meaning for every RM100 you stake, you receive a return of RM172 if that team wins.
Quick Example: You bet RM200 on Liverpool at odds of 1.65. If Liverpool wins, you receive RM330 (RM200 × 1.65). Your net profit is RM130.
Types of Odds Available at Telegram88
On the Telegram88, there are several odds formats available for you to choose based on your preference:
- Decimal Odds – The most popular format in Malaysia. Easy to understand and calculate. Example: 2.50 means you get 2.5 times your stake back.
- Asian Handicap Odds – Very popular for football. Gives the weaker team a head start to level the playing field.
- Over/Under Odds – Bet on whether the total goals/points will be over or under a set line. Ideal for matches where high scoring is expected.
- Live (In-Play) Odds – Odds that update in real time as the match unfolds. This is the best opportunity for players who are following the action live.
Most Popular Sports to Bet On in Malaysia

Football remains the number one sport. The Malaysia Super League is a firm favourite, as fans get to follow their local clubs up close. On top of that, the English Premier League (EPL) draws enormous interest — especially Saturday night fixtures, which are always a hot topic among football fans here.
Badminton is Malaysia's national pride. Whenever Lee Zii Jia or the doubles pairs compete, the platform Telegram88 has seen a sharp surge in betting volume. Our badminton odds are highly competitive compared to other platforms, especially during major tournaments like the Malaysia Open, All England, and Thomas Cup.
E-Sports is now rapidly growing among young Malaysian players. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) in particular is hugely popular – with more young players following both local and international tournaments.
